Worthwhile strategies and strategic
plans have three components
- strategic analysis
- strategic choice
- strategy implementation
Developing strategies can require
a range of analytical tools and techniques, to
provide sufficient, but not too much, information
and insights. Strategies need to make predictions
about the future, and need to be based in a well
understood vision for the organization.
Since there is hardly ever just
one obvious solution, choices will be necessary,
choices that have to be made in with uncertainty.
This can be hard, but well thought through analysis
and good participation from within the organization
can reduce uncertainty.
And, of course, good strategies
without good implementation don't get you very
far.
The Planning Edge understands the
importance of each of these steps and blends listening,
thinking, analytical, creative and interpersonal
skills to help organizations develop plans to
meet the future on their terms.
