The Planning Edge provides strategy,
planning, marketing and organizational development
services to a wide range of clients in business
and industry, education, the non-profit sector
and government.
We have a reputation for insightful
analysis, creativity, proven processes and actionable
plans that can make a significant difference in
an organization's performance.
We think our reputation is based
on some fundamental principles that we take to
each assignment. Such as,
- It is for you! Ultimately,
the work we do gets transferred to you and your
people. Knowing this going in, we don't work
in a vacuum. We involve your organization.
- Thinking. You'll see that
word in many places on this site. It is critical
for your future. We spend a lot of time thinking
about your organization, its issues and its
future.
- Listening. We know the
value of the knowledge stored in the heads of
your managers, staffs, customers and others.
Sometimes it isn't stored "neatly,"
but it is there. And we know how to tap into
it and build on it. In listening, we listen
to what we don't hear as much as what we do
hear.
- Analysis and action. Both
are necessary. We want to get the most insights
out of analyses, without paralyzing your organization
with endless data. We know when to stop with
the analysis and move to actions. We have a
simple test - - If we were running your organization,
would we be comfortable enough to know what
actions to take and be able to take them?
- Experience. Every client
works solely with the principals of The Planning
Edge. We have no entry level jobs. We are not
a training ground for consultants.
- No surprises. While plans
may recommend change, we don't believe in springing
these on you at the last moment. You'll be seeing
us throughout a project. We'll be updating you,
even bouncing ideas off you when they sometimes
are still in the formative stage. Why? Because
first and foremost we want our work with you
to help your organization succeed. We won't
do anything that creates unnecessary roadblocks.
- Flexible processes. We
have developed good processes. The processes
provide a framework, but not a "follow
the dots" methodology. We know all organizations
are unique, so we use the processes as a start,
and modify them to your needs.Look through this
site. While you will see a lot of information
about The Planning Edge, we think you'll also
learn some things about planning, strategy,
marketing and research, and organization development.
We are happy to share these ideas with you.
